Evolution instead of Revolution – the right drive for every application
DC motors from GROSCHOPP are characterized by their high quality and long service life.

Due to their robust construction and repairability, they are ideally suited for use in demanding environments. GROSCHOPP looks back on more than 75 years of company history and has cross-industry expertise as well as extensive experience in drive technology. As a result, we are able to adapt our DC motors precisely to the requirements of various applications.

We offer a wide range of electrically excited DC motors, distinguishing between different types:

Series Motors
In series motors, the armature and field windings are connected in series. They are characterized by high torque at low speeds and can be operated with both DC and AC. Series motors are used in applications where either high starting torques and/or high speeds are required – for example, in medium-voltage switches or mixers.

Shunt Motors
In shunt motors, the armature and field windings are connected in parallel. They are speed-stiff, meaning their speed remains nearly constant even with changing loads. Shunt motors are advantageous in applications where precise but simple speed control is needed – for example, in conveyor drives or medical technology.

Compound Motors
Compound motors, also known as double-shunt motors, combine the characteristics of series and shunt motors because they have both a series and a shunt winding. Compound motors are used in material handling technology when high starting torque is required rather than speed stability.

Permanent Magnet DC Motors
In addition to electrically excited versions, we also offer magnetically excited motors, known as permanent magnet DC motors. Here, magnets are used to generate the field, making them particularly energy-efficient. PMDC motors offer stable speed under load but are sensitive to overload situations. They are suitable, for example, for mobile or medical applications.

Available as Integral or Enclosed Motors
GROSCHOPP offers DC motors with a housing (KG) or as integral motors (KE). The motors in the KE series are very robust. They can be briefly overloaded significantly and are therefore used, among other things, in power grounding switches or tensioning devices for strapping. GROSCHOPP continuously develops its commutator motor technology – the wishes of our customers form the basis for this. It’s more about evolution than revolution. Currently, increasing demands for efficiency, longevity, and controllability of drives are the main focus.
